With the end of Bloomberg's final term coming up; like with Guliani; the idea of revising the term limits law in order to keep a mayor in a time of crisis has come back.
In this economic predicament we seem to have, its good to have a mayor such as Bloomberg many would say. He's wise to the issues and has real experience with Wall Street and the stock market. There is a push to change the term limit law so that new york can have the fiscally most responsible and aware mayor: Micheal Bloomberg. Along with Bloomberg's superior knowledge of the economy and first hand understanding of what is going on, he is seen to many as the best chance for us to pull through this time of economic lull with the least amount of damage.
He has already brought the New York City economy back on its feet at the beginning of his first term following September 11th.
We (NYC voters) have approved the two term limit twice, in 1993 and 1996. Those in opposition to Bloomberg's longer stay say that firstly, he isnt the absolute best choice for mayor but also that there is a bigger issue at hand. Is it democratically responsible to change policy for any kind of crisis? I would answer yes, of course, but many feel this amendment to the law would be to "serve the interests of an incumbent."
A last point to be made for Bloomberg's case is they same as Guliani's when he tried to extend his term several months to oversee the clean up of ground zero. Bloomberg says its a matter of finishing the job.

Offstage, a Beastie Boy Enters the World of Independent Film
Offstage, a Beastie Boy Enters the World of Independant Film

the beastie boy albums have been on my shelf for a long time now, and seeing how they are a group with roots here on the upper west side seeing Adam Yauch (MCA) in the times caught my eye.
the article speaks about MCA's newest endevor, an independent film company 'Oscilloscope'. I liked how they spoke of the way the business worked, and what the office provided; an outlet for the small ten man team to get thier hands on all aspects of the project.
it was good to see the different roots and outlets the writer explored to get to some deeper information. For instance, Adam Yauch had a previouse company with simial ambition but was overcome and ended up going under. the reporter asked what he is going to do differently this time around... it forced good information, real insite.
