The hidden building between the Buildings

There was a short article last week about a photographers epiphany during his third avenue walks home, the secret beauty between the buildings of midtown Manhattan. He found that the little sky seen from the city streets was similar in shape to the skyscrapers that formed the gap.
Randy West; the photographer; experimented with the different seasons and times of day and found that on nights in September between 7 and 8 pm. gave the best results. Taking pictures on the sky seems simple enough to the untrained eye, but Mr. West talks about his weaving in and out of traffic, bumping into angry New York pedestrians and all around hardship of focusing his camera due to the hustle of the Ny streets. Instead he used a of the shelf disposible camera to take his photos which you can find at his website randywest.net along side his other work.

the times had examples of these pictures, its actually remarkable how canded the sky is of a building when you turn the newspaper upside down. i urge you to check it out at randywest.net
